Paige Knudtson became a proud owner of Brutus, a 2-year-old boxer, from a nearby rescue center when she found out she was pregnant with Finn. She had grown up with boxers, and she was aware of their gentle nature. However, she didn’t realize how important Brutus would be in her child’s life.
According to Knudtson, Brutus has a very affectionate personality and enjoys getting attention by cuddling with others. When Finn’s mother underwent a routine anatomy scan at 20 weeks of her pregnancy, it was discovered that Finn had a significant heart defect. Finn had to undergo several procedures before he became eligible for open-heart surgery. Knudtson noted that discovering Finn’s condition before his birth was fortunate, or else he may not have been alive today. After experiencing some complications in the hospital, Finn was finally released after seven weeks. It was during this time when Brutus met his baby brother, and they immediately formed a bond. Knudtson believes that Brutus could sense that Finn needed extra monitoring once they got home, and he has remained by Finn’s side ever since.
Finn and Brutus have an undeniable connection that is evident in their every moment spent together. Whether they’re lounging on the couch, frolicking in the yard, savoring a meal, or snoozing, they’re always side by side. As per Knudtson’s statement, Brutus sticks to Finn like glue, snuggling up next to him wherever he may be in the house. And if Finn isn’t feeling well, Brutus picks up on it and stays close, resting his head on Finn’s chest as a comforting gesture.
Brutus simply cannot bear to be away from Finn. He will scratch at Finn’s bedroom door or pace outside until he is permitted to enter. The two brothers are so close that they even prefer to sleep together through the night. In Finn’s infancy, Brutus would lay on the rug beside his crib as a protective guard. Now that Finn is sleeping in a toddler bed, they can snuggle up more cozily.
According to Knudtson, Finn had only recently transitioned to his new bed when Brutus began joining him every night. It seemed as though the loyal dog was keeping watch over Finn to ensure he didn’t fall out of bed.
Finn and Brutus share an unbreakable bond that sees the two inseparable from one another, regardless of the situation. According to Knudtson, Finn started sleeping on the floor, ditching his bed, and Brutus followed suit, sleeping right next to him. To further cement their relationship, Finn even opts to snuggle up with Brutus in his dog bed instead of staying in his own. Knudtson has since moved Brutus’ bed into Finn’s room to make it simpler for them to be close.
Knudtson has recently shared an adorable nighttime routine involving their child and their beloved dog, which was recorded using a nanny cam. Whenever Finn discovers Brutus sleeping on the floor, he would then grab his blanket and join his furry friend for a cozy snuggle session. The gentle dog doesn’t seem to mind at all and is happy to be used as a pillow as long as it brings comfort to his little human brother.
